The local press reported developments during the enquiry including:

1) The suppression of a critical traffic report by the council. It was written by Peter Headicar, and expert at Oxford Brookes and shows that even without the Northern Gateway, motor traffic in Oxford is projected to rise by 51% over the next fifteen years.

First Day of Hearings - Update

Today was the first of four days of hearings in front of Inspector Pratt who will determine the 'soundness' of the Oxford Core Strategy of which the Northern Gateway is a part.

About 150 Oxford residents attended a meeting in Wolvercote on Thursday 25th March to debate the proposed ‘Evergreen 3’ rail project. The Board of Chiltern Railways Limited gave a complete presentation on the details of their proposal to build a privately funded line from Oxford Station to London via Bicester. Chiltern Evergreen 3 is the proposed upgraded railway line to run from Oxford to Marylebone via Bicester. The line will run through the Wolvercote Tunnel, underneath the Wolvercote Roundabout.
