CPRE have worked closely with us on our opposition to the Northern Gateway. They are running an Oxford Green Spaces Sponsored Walk, which we hope many of you will take part on Sunday June 27th from 10.00 am – 4.00 pm

The nine mile circular walk around Oxford has been created by CPRE Oxford to highlight the threats to many of the city’s much-loved green spaces.

Flooding & the Northern Gateway

Thumbnail:

In July 2007 Lower Wolvercote was flooded as the water-table rose rapidly after heavy rain. Wolvercote Common and Port Meadow are natural meadows on the flood plain of the Thames and its is quite normal that they flood each winter - indeed the flooding is part of the natural cycle that makes them such a special and protected habitat and a site of Special Scientific Interest.
