Today was the first of four days of hearings in front of Inspector Pratt who will determine the 'soundness' of the Oxford Core Strategy of which the Northern Gateway is a part.
The final Planning Hearings on the Oxford Core Strategy be held in front of Stephen Pratt, the Planning Inspector, from Tuesday 14th September 2010 at 10am until Friday 17th in the Assembly Room, Oxford Town Hall. About 150 Oxford residents attended a meeting in Wolvercote on Thursday 25th March to debate the proposed ‘Evergreen 3’ rail project. The Board of Chiltern Railways Limited gave a complete presentation on the details of their proposal to build a privately funded line from Oxford Station to London via Bicester. In July 2007 Lower Wolvercote was flooded as the water-table rose rapidly after heavy rain. Wolvercote Common and Port Meadow are natural meadows on the flood plain of the Thames and its is quite normal that they flood each winter - indeed the flooding is part of the natural cycle that makes them such a special and protected habitat and a site of Special Scientific Interest.

On Tuesday, 9th February, Inspector Pratt held a Procedural Meeting about whether the examination of Oxford's core strategy, of which the 'Northern Gateway' is a part, could continue. Engage Oxford attended in strength to highlight the weaknesses in the process and Core Strategy.
