The Northern Gateway proposal is sited above and around the Wolvercote Roundabout, Oxfordshire's worst traffic blackspot. Each morning the queues of traffic can be more than a mile long. Pollution levels exceed the statutory maximum laid down by the EU. The proposed development would dramatically worsen the problem. Goodman and Kier, the developers insist that only 4,000 new employees would travel to the site.
Our calculations, supported by independent analysis, are that up to 10-12,000 people would work there and up to 80% of them would travel from outside Oxford..
